Notes from the HBO documenatary Moviepass, movie crash
When investing in the stock of a company, look up the history of the people that are running the company. What are their values? Are they interested in the product that they are selling? Or, are they interested in pumping up the stock price of the company?
In the words of a financial analyst, it is easy to put on a Broadway show with a company. You need an actor, you need a story and you need a prop. The actor is the guy that is showing up in the media and making pitches (the story) to get people to buy stock in the company. The company or the product of the company is the prop. If he is a false leader, and if you put your money in that company, it is like buying ticket to a show that is terrible. You leave the theater with nothing but disappointment and bad memories.
All publicly traded companies need to file these forms with SEC.

Form 10K. Form 10-K is an annual report that provides a comprehensive analysis of the company’s financial condition.
Financial analysts always look at things like these to determine if the company is doing well or not. If the leaders of the company are lying, these forms will prove it.
Why Form 10-K Is Important to Investors
The SEC mandates that all public companies file regular 10-Ks to keep investors aware of a company’s financial condition and to allow them to have enough information before they buy or sell securities issued by that company. The 10-K can appear overly complex at first glance, complete with tables full of data and figures. However, it is because it is so comprehensive that this filing is key for investors to get a handle on a company’s financial position and prospects.
